How can you improve the education of your family and community?

By Profesor Martin Danenberg “El Quijote del GED”

I want to receive your responses. I just want to tell you that between 34-41 percent of adults in New York City who had no preparation passed the GED (without going to a GED class) in 2006 and 2007. This is not amazing to me, but now New York City agencies are urging what I have been talking and writing about for eight years. So you have to decide for yourself whether or not you should go to GED class or study without a class. Two days ago in the Central Islip Public Library, I noticed a young woman returning a GED book and I spoke to her. She said she studied from the book for one day and passed the GED in October. You could have a job that pays $20,000 to $40,000 and by taking and passing the GED and the Police Exam in Suffolk County (where I live), you could earn $55,000 annually and get great annual pay increases.

There are 1.6 million adults in the City of New York who have no diploma and only 10,732 earned a diploma in 2006. More people earned a diploma that did not go to class than those who went to class. But please take into account that I can make most of these people who passed and all of those who failed stronger.

Would you tell your loved ones and friends about this?

Would you show them one of my important articles?

Is there some other plan of action that you have in mind that can help your community, your church, or your family anywhere in the United States?

Share what you are thinking with me. I have helped people as far away from New York as Buenos Aires, Argentina and Bangladesh. Share what you are thinking, but do not write silly stuff that will be deleted from the blog.

Yesterday a teenager from Chicago called me to find out how she can do the GED before January 5, 2009 so she can enter college. This kind of thinking is needed by millions more youth all across the United States.

On Long Island tomorrow, there will be demonstrations in favor of increasing ESL classes for immigrants.

IF YOU ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL DO NOT DROP OUT OF SCHOOL TO TAKE A FULL TIME JOB. TAKE A PART TIME JOB OR PARTIAL PART TIME JOB.
