Washington, September 23, 2008: Today, ASPIRA Association's President, Ronald Blackburn Moreno, delivered the keynote address on occasion of the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month at the FDIC.
Speaking to over 100 FDIC senior staff, Mr. Blackburn Moreno focused his remarks on the history of ASPIRA, the ASPIRA model of youth leadership development, and the many accomplishments of the Hispanic community to the nation throughout its history. He also addressed the many challenges that the Latino community is currently facing in a host of areas, especially in education. He emphasized the collaboration between ASPIRA and the FDIC is the implementation of the FDIC's Money Smart program in the Latino community, and ASPIRA's special interest in promoting financial literacy.
