Rep. Angel Cruz (D) will be serving in his fourth term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives representing the 180th District, Philadelphia County. During his tenure, Rep. Cruz has drafted and had enacted several important pieces of legislation; obtained grants for numerous non-profit organizations in the district including ASPIRA of Pennsylvania; and played the leading role in the abduction investigation and return of Delamar Vera, which made international news. Cruz, of Puerto Rican origins, is the only Latino serving in the Pennsylvania State House of Representattives.
Among other accomplishments of Angel Cruz are the following:
· Ward Leader 7th Ward, City of Philadelphia for 12 years
· Assistant to Philadelphia City Councilman for 5 ½ years
(As an aide to City Council, Rep. Cruz was instrumental in getting the 5th Street Golden Block designated as Police Officer Jose Ortiz Avenue. Officer Ortiz lost his life in the line of duty. Rep. Cruz also assisted in the founding of the 4th and York Street Park.)
