Community Allies for Smart Access to Math and Science

  • Log in [1] to post comments

CASA MAS LogoCASA MAS (Community Allies for Smart Access to Math And Science) provides access to information, resources, discourse, and strategies in math and science education. CASA MAS is better described below through each of its forming elements.

Community:

This site fosters a community of individuals, ranging from the very experienced to novice, who desire to obtain information or discuss issues important to them in math and science. CASA MAS will be a rallying point for all of us. Whether student, teacher, parent, we can stand together on this site.

Allies:

This is an effort for all who are connected by the common property or quality of having an interest in minority science and mathematics education. This close association unites different people and organizations who share this common interest. The allies are, amongst others, students of all ages, interested mothers or fathers, teachers, educators, and scientists.

Smart:

This community alliance is termed as smart primarily because it is a centralized, "one-stop" communications and distribution center. Access will be smart in the sense that strategic links to resources will be added to the site. Also, users have the option of suggesting links of interest to be added on the site for the benefit of the community.

Access:

The site provides access to all participants in the MAS Academy, participants of similar SMT programs nationwide, parents, teachers, educators, and others who have an interest in furthering the mission of minority representation in SMT. The site will provide links to SMT teacher resources, parent resources, student resources, and community resources.
