ASPIRA Congratulates ASPIRAnte Lorraine Cortes on her new Appointment at AARP

 

The ASPIRA Association is very pleased that former New York Secretary of State Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez joins AARP as Executive Vice President for Multicultural Markets and Engagement. "We congratulate AARP for having the vision to create this new position that will focus on the growing and influential multicultural 50+ population," said Ronald Blackburn-Moreno, President and CEO of the ASPIRA Association.

"We are proud Secretary Cortés-Vázquez will be taking the helm in this new endeavor. She brings an abundance of experience to the position, and we wish her the best."

Secretary Cortés-Vázquez was the first Hispanic to hold the position of New York Secretary of State. She is currently a NALEO board memberConfirmed on March 6, 2007, Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez an ASPIRAnte from the Bronx, New York, served as New York States 65th Secretary of State. The Office of Secretary of State, established in 1778, is the third oldest office in New York State.

Chase Communtiy Giving - Its a great opportunity to support ASPIRA of New York

Out of thousands of charities across the nation, our community chose ASPIRA of New York, Inc. to be a part of the 2012 Chase Community Giving program. In this year's program, Chase asked customers and employees to tell them which charities meant the most to them—and ASPIRA was one of them! Now that the nominations are in, Chase is inviting all of the eligible charity nominees to be a part of the voting phase, where we'll be granting $5 million to 196 local charities. Voting will take place from September 6th-19th.

HOSTOS PRESIDENT RECEIVES ASPIRA'S CIRCLE OF ACHIEVERS AWARD

Tuesday, June 19, 2012 (Bronx, NY) – On Wednesday, June 13, 2012, Dr. Félix V. Matos Rodríguez, President of Eugenio María de Hostos Community College of The City University of New York (CUNY), received the “Education Award” at ASPIRA’s “Circle of Achievers Dinner,” which was held at E-Space in Manhattan.
The theme of the dinner was “Building on 50 Years of Investing in Latino Youth,” and President Matos Rodríguez was recognized for his work as an educator for CUNY and as President of Hostos, a position he has held since 2009.
